a sudden thought

9 Mar

While reading up on other people’s design, and some design rules. Suddenly, this thought came to me. Must I always follow the trend set by someone else, the rules of the current design?

Why can’t I design something of my own, referencing other people’s rule, but not following them totally? All this design trend also begin with some designer having an idea or mind of their own, before their design got accepted, to well-liked, to getting recognized, and on to being a trend setter.

I want to be one of the trend setter, and not being a follower all the time. I know there must be some rules to follow, but some can be foregone. Just like Bill Gates, he forsake the traditional thought of then ‘awesome’ computer and came up with WINDOW OS! What’s with the IMPOSSIBLE? Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE! Just go with your idea, follow what you feel. Who knows, you might make it big like BILL GATES!

Life is AWESOME! Do what you think, think what you do. ;)

Yet another design I’ve done for today.

(p.S.: Rebecca said Mr Low looks scary, which I agree, he look like a greenish ju-on. *to be edited again*)

Scrapbook, portfolio

I’ve been reading a lot on designing, on how to create new designs or ideas which is uniquely yours. I’ve learned that scrapbook is another important but for recording of now&then ideas, which will come into handy now or in the near future. Recording down is important you never know when you will run out of ideas, and you still have this recording tools with you for you to search for you past inspirations.

I’ve also learned that research is very important as well. Research for new materials or old used materials and make into something new. COMBINATION! COMBUSTION! BOOM! AWESOME WORK OF YOUR OWN! New entity.

Exam is going to be here soon. So now, I’m passion for drawing/design is back to it’s peak again, I have been drawing a lot, reading a lot about it. DEFINITELY! Designing a lot! So before I going to my notes I shall post some of my recent work up (few days old works).

Almost a Month

21 Feb

It’s been almost a month, I haven’t got the time to do any posting, I’m sorry.

Celebrated Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Sissy’s Birthday for this month. Had family day, work day, school day. Currently, I have got 2 part time job on hand, being Angelina’s Personal Assistant and Librarian @ Queenstown Library.

Do not ask me which I like more, I have no idea. Being a PA, time passed quickly but I have to make calls and sent out sms/emails for confirmation. Being a Librarian, time passes like a snail crawling, but it’s great over there. Today after so long, I’ve much time on hand to do my assignments and slack alittle.

I’m pretty happy today, I finally got to catch up with my lost sleeps and I’m finally going to play badminton today. I guessed I’ve lost my judgment for the game. :(

I always look forward to what my team members’ comments on the things I drew or made. But guessed they were too busy with all the assignments we got on hand, on the other hand they fully approved on my drawings. Initially, I could see they were very amazed at what I drew and did. I’m happy I’m not freeloading on my team work.

Now take a look at my work. Everything was done from scratch in photoshop and lightwave. No brush, no add-ons whatever.

This is the poster for our game. Part of the marketing material.

Main Character

Princess (with no 3d model) Not needed in 3d Mode

The King (no 3d model) Not needed in 3d mode

Cruel Kru, the villian (3d model not required as well)

The monsters for our game:

Tortoise, which is called toy tankies in our game. It looks cuter in 3d model I feel.

And lastly the backdrop for our game’s cut scene.

shall end this post with my new profile pic in twitter, and help sissy with her drawing. Badminton here I COME!

This whole week, my foots have been soaked wet, due to the rain. It always rain whenever I’m heading out for work. ARGH! Disaster! Poor feet.

Work at the library has so far been pleasant, people over there are nice. Time passed pretty fast over there. I’ve also been trying to complete my assignments as soon as possible, so I can enjoy during the Chinese New Year. However, it’s not yet done. Anyway I’ve done up a wallpaper for the coming Chinese New Year, though not perfect, but just gonna post up the draft and what have been done so far.

Before porting into graphics.

Tiger flies of with the kick from the rabbit. ^^

While doing all this, I also made a birthday card for Eddie. Meant to be a surprise.

Got to go prepare to go out now. Tudoos~

Combination of 3

22 Jan

Before starting on another assignment, I shall blog alittle, since the space here have remained stagnant for quite sometimes. Haven’t got much time to update, and probably the laziness in me is stopping me.

I’ve just started going to library to work just yesterday. I would say it’s quite good. Walking around (roving), stay at the reception area assist people with their borrows & reservations.

Finally, I on my old laptop again. Praying that it will not die on me when I’m transferring the photos, I could say that everything went well. Got those antique and memorable stuff now on my new laptop. Hope it will not disappoint me with the harddisk crashing or anything. *touchwood*

Now having done the transferring of the old times photos, I can now set my mind on making the valentine surprise for Mr Low. I’ve selected the song for the video already. YEAH! This shall be a mega surprise for the boy.

I shall close of this post with the pictures from last week. Eddie treated us to ICHIBAN BOSHI located at Suntec’s Basement.

Lastly, I’ve finally finished assignment 2 for 3D modeling.  It’s giving me hard time though it’s interesting. That STUPID Lightwave crashed! I haven’t save my file. I had to redo it again just now. So final result is this.

Left with the summary for this assignment. Next got to play the Demo game given by lecturer and write a game review for it. Bless me.

07 January 2011 had just passed.

Though I’m loving 3D Modeling and Animation classes, but having 8 lessons consecutively day after day can be real tiring and dry. With those interviews I’ve been going too, I felt that there’s too much traveling. I’m not sure if cause I’m getting way to lazy for my brain to beat my legs.

After being lazy for a few days, or rather spent more time on web-design learning online, created web layouts. I’m satisfied with the result! I’ve got a few idea on mind, shall try to do it this weekend, got to faster finish up my 3D modeling assignments. I’m complaining about the hectic lesson, however, I just can’t seems to wait to do my 2nd assignment. Weet!

Aussie lecturer is returning tomorrow, today will be his last lesson with us. I kind of like him teaching us. Going to miss his lesson.

So what have I been doing last weekend?

We celebrated Mark’s Birthday, and he treated us to dinner at Vine Restaurant. The environment at the restaurant was warm, on contrary the temperature there is low. It’s so *burrrr* cold, the reason might be we’re sitting right infront of the Air-Conditioner.

Aside from that, ADD-ONS to the points. The food there is awesome! Come in generous portion, staffs there friendly/polite. With additional $3.50 added to the main course, you get a set/combo consisting of a cup of tea or coffee, dessert(what I got that day was cake. YUMS!), soup of the day.

The Vines Seafood & Steak Restaurant

Eddie Lao da with Birthday Boy, Mark.
Pauline’s Sausage Main Course.
My Crayfish Spaghetti. YUMMY!
The yummy cake we got to eat.
Prize(Presents) presentation ceremony.
DOMO!!!
Lastly Morgan is BACK! For 2 weeks, they have been missing him for quite a while.
Eddie Lao Da with Doraemon, right before we went in to the room to play xbox, guitar hero.
The place at Illuma, a room(able to hold 15 people) + console, for an hour they charge 18dollars, till end of this month. It’s cheap, especially with alot of friends sharing the cost. However, there’s a pub next to the place, and they are placed in this open concept place, HORRIBLE! I can’t really hear the music/sound produced by the game! Because the pub, next door was playing their music so loud and there’s no partition on the top part of the room to filter the sounds away. You decide. Pros and Cons.

YEAH! Done with this. Shall go to bed soon.
P.S.: I got the National Library Part-time job. :) Nights

School life

So far lesson have been pretty interesting! This week there’s gonna be 6 days of 3D modelling lessons. Currently, lecturer from Aust campus came and demonstrated to us, how to use Lightwave.

Seeing him do it is so much easier than doing it myself. I’ve tried doing some just now, what took the lecturer 5 mins to do took me like 20mins. Lots of errors, guess got to brush up on that. :(

Oh ya! Forget to mention, his name is Dr. Ian Piper, he looks like someone who is arty farty, cause he has got long hair which he tucks behind his ears. He’s really good with LightWave. Most interesting part is, his lesson has got no slides/powerpoint presentations, he does all the drawing, making of the models on the spot. AMAZED! It’s really cool! I’m loving his lessons!

LightWave is a totally new software to me, I gotta really learn hard and FAST! I foresee myself struggling with lightWave modelling. Got to work real hard.

This is what I’ve done so far.

This took me 20mins, I’m gonna try making a dinosaur model soon. Can’t wait.

Currently, I’m seriously in need of cash, my bank balance is currently performing badly. Lucky, Andrew has got job for me to do, which is to paste stickers on 2000booklets which will be given out during the openhouse of Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Really hope I can get a good part time job real soon! And also hoping that the money for LOL’s logo will be credited into my account soon. *Fingers cross*

Time to go to bed, got to go continue stickers pasting tomorrow!

Self-reminder: Template making by this week, learn Illustrator, learn LightWave
